The Oregon
Preschool Promise
Preschool Promise is a publicly funded program serving children ages 3 to 4 years old from families with incomes at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, children in foster care, and children from other historically underserved populations. Approximately 3,756 children are currently enrolled in Preschool Promise programs in Oregon, and the state is adding more than 2,500 new preschool slots for eligible families in 2022. Children can be enrolled in the Preschool Promise Program in a variety of settings, such as centers, homes, and schools.
Low-income children and children of color are less likely to have the chance to attend a high-quality preschool—so they’re often less prepared for success in school and life. Little Thinkers invests Preschool Promise funds in programs that serve children of color, implement culturally relevant practices, and prioritize family involvement.
